The SDG Village

The "SDG Village" concept is a demonstration physical space designed to empower youth to collaboratively drive actions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially designing SDG solutions that promote resilient co-existence of human development, population pressure and natural resources.

The "SDG Villageā€ is developed to create a platform for youth to co-create Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), that promote urban and peri-urban biodiversity despite the increasing population and human development pressure in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. The physical space is designed to empower youth to collaboratively drive actions towards achieving the SDGs  1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 13 (Climate Action), 15 (Life on Land), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

To achieve the above, we aim to establish the following key components within the SDG Village:

Biodiversity co-creation Hub:

A collaborative workspace for youth-led civil society organizations (CSOs) to innovate, plan, and implement projects aimed at achieving the SDGs.

Community-managed Food Forest

A sustainable, community-driven initiative to create a food forest that enhances local food security, biodiversity, and ecological health.

Youth CSO Camping Site

A dedicated area for youth groups to engage in immersive learning experiences, team-building activities, and environmental conservation efforts.

Agro-tourism

An initiative to promote sustainable agricultural practices and ecotourism, providing educational tours and hands-on farming experiences to visitors.

Knowledge Transfer Hub

A center for the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions related to sustainable development and climate resilience.
